Export to secure 5% Belarus economy growth

MINSK, 27 November (BelTA) – Belarus plans to reach a 5% economy growth through more active export. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement in an interview granted to the news agency Reuters on 26 November, BelTA has learned.

The head of state believes that it is feasible to achieve the 5% economy growth despite the fact that the figure is somewhat lower now. “How? We can do it easily if our products sell,” said the President.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that there was a colossal demand for Belarusian products. “We compete with the world’s leading manufacturers in quality and price. We can do it. First of all, the resources we get are somewhat cheaper than, for instance, in Europe. Second, our workforce is considerably cheaper than yours. So we have many components that can allow us to bring down prices. The quality we offer is decent,” said the head of state. “Moreover, we have started creating assembly enterprises. The service we provide is at a proper level,” added the President.

“Therefore, we can easily sell products of the real economy sector. We just have to work at it, the demand is there already,” stressed the head of state.

“If Europe is a bit low, then there is Latin America. We have great plans there, in Venezuela, Brazil, and Ecuador. Those are rich countries,” said the President. “We can extract oil and sell it there like we do in Venezuela or we can build turn-key enterprises. Brazil is a huge market that is ready to buy everything we make”.

“Not to mention the European Union. It is our key partner. The European Union is alive and will be alive and it means it will consume products, including the ones we make,” said the head of state.

“We will manage to sell our products,” Alexander Lukashenko is convinced. “Therefore, 5% is the minimal growth we can secure”.
